Description (srp)

Introduction: The aim of this study was to examine the trend in the frequency of fatalities andinjuries in traffic accidents in Montenegro, with the aim of identifying the most vulnerableparticipants in traffic accidents. Methods: The research was designed as an observational case-control study. Participants intraffic accidents in Montenegro that resulted in serious bodily injury or death in the period from2011-2020 were sampled. years. The respondents were divided into three groups according tothe type of injuries: injuries related to bleeding, breathing disorders and head injuries. The"control" group consisted of cases that survived the immediate post-injury period. Results: A statistically significantly higher number of traffic accidents is recorded during thesummer compared to other seasons. It was found that the largest number of respondents died intraffic accidents due to central nervous system (CNS) injuries. There is a significant influenceof the presence of combined injuries on the outcome of traffic accidents in the studiedpopulation: category of asphyxia, category of head injuries and category of bleeding, whiledeath was the most common in the case of polytrauma. A significant difference was observedin the threshold values that follow the proximity and time of transport to the hospital, which isspecific to the injury sustained, as well as to the nearest tertiary level hospital. Conclusion: The formation of an accessible network of trauma centers and the introduction ofa trauma registry is the best solution for a better survival rate of severely traumatized patientsin cooperation.
